Multiple gear pumps
This external gear pump is mainly composed of a pair of gears supported on a bearing bush or bearing (depending on the different series), and a pump casing equipped with a front cover and a rear cover. The drive shaft protrudes from the front cover of the pump and is sealed by a shaft sealing ring. These supporting forces on the bearing are absorbed by the bearing bushing; because the sliding bearing has sufficient elasticity, a surface contact rather than a line contact is formed. Because of this, it also ensures excellent wear resistance of the pump-especially at low speeds. This pair of gears have 12 teeth respectively, which can keep the gear pump from producing a minimum of flow pulsation and noise.
In most cases each pump is isolated from its neighbor, i.e. the suction ports are separate from one another. A common suction port is also possible as an option.
Caution: Basically, the specifications for the single pumps apply, but with certain restrictions:Max. speed: This is determined by the highest rated pump speed in use.
Pressures: These are restricted by the strength of the drive shaft, the through drives and the drivers.
Gear pumps with integral valves
In order to reduce external pipework it is possible to incor- porate a flow-control valve or pressure-relief valve in the cover of the gear pump. A typical application of this is in the supply of hydraulic oil in power steering systems. The pump delivers a constant flow irrespective of the speed at which it is driven. The excess flow is either returned internally to the suction port or distributed externally to other items of equipment.

The internal sealing is achieved by compensating forces, which are proportional to the output pressure. Using this compensation method can ensure the realization of optimal efficiency. These bearings provide a sealing function for the end of the gap (that is, between the gear teeth that transport high-pressure oil). By inputting the working pressure to the rear of the bearing bushing, the sealing area between the gear teeth and the bearing can be controlled. These seals constitute the boundary of this area. For these radial gaps at the top of the gear teeth, sealing is achieved by pushing the gear to the internal force of the pump casing.
